Can Colloidal Oatmeal be a Moisturizer for Dry Skin?

I’m known to have dry skin. My face gets dry and itches. My knees have flaking. But worst of all, my ears are dry and they itch. It’s also embarassing if I don’t really scrub my ears in the morning and get the dry flakes off of them. Really, it’s something I battle. But if I take colloidal oatmeal baths, I do get some relief. The oatmeal acts as a moisturizer for me.

Colloidal Oatmeal Lotion from AveenoThe colloidal oatmeal helps smooth over my dry skin, and brings instant relief. It’s not a “cure” for me, but is something that helps. I’ve also been known to make an oatmeal “paste” by mixing the colloidal oatmeal with a small mix of honey and milk to thicken it up. Then I put it on my dry skin, my ears, and let it rest for about twenty minutes. I then clean everything off, and the result is smoother, softer skin. I know this works, because I have done it, and continue to use it to relieve my symptoms.
